Driving work vehicles? You must be paid

We’ve had quite a few members at St Giles get in touch to ask us about what their rights are around driving work vehicles.

Workers have told us that they’re often directed by management to go into work and pick up a St Giles work car to drive to their first client – without being paid until the client is in the car.

Obviously, this is not right. If you’re driving one of the company cars for work related purposes, like picking up a client, then you need to be paid for it.

We wrote a letter to your new People and Culture Manager about this last week to tell them that this isn’t on – but so far, we’ve been greeted with the sound of silence. We like the song, but we're quite disturbed that we haven’t got a reply yet.

We’ll make sure that we chase this issue up – because you deserve to be paid properly for the work that you do.

If you’ve been affected by this issue, or you’ve got other questions about your entitlements at work, please make sure you get in touch with us via HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 so we can help you make sure that you’re being paid correctly.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email assist@hacsu.org.au or complete our online contact form
